Greater Sudbury covers a lot of ground, from Lively to Valley East to Coniston. For many people it's simpler to have cannabis delivered than to make a trip. Here's what the process looks like and how to make it go smoothly.
Before you order
- You must be 19 or older. Delivery is only to adults, and the person receiving the order needs to show it.
- Have government-issued photo ID ready. A driver's licence, passport or Ontario Photo Card is typical, and it helps if the name matches the order.
- Make sure someone 19+ will be home. Expect the order to be handed to an adult in person, not left on a doorstep.
- Check the delivery area. Some outlying parts of the city may have different timing or minimums.
Timing and cut-offs
Most delivery services have a daily order cut-off for same-day delivery. Creator's Choice, for example, offers same-day delivery across Greater Sudbury for orders placed before 2pm. Orders placed later typically arrive the next day.
Plan ahead around weekends and holidays, and around Sudbury winter weather. A February storm slows everyone down.
At the door
Expect something like this:
- The driver confirms your name and checks your ID.
- You sign or confirm receipt.
- The order is handed over in sealed packaging.
If you can't show valid ID, or nobody 19+ is home, expect the driver to keep the order.
After it arrives
- Check the order against what you ordered.
- Store it straight away, locked and out of reach of kids and pets. See How to Store Cannabis Safely.
- Remember the 30-gram limit applies once you take it out of the house. See Ontario's 30-Gram Limit, Explained.
Tips for a smooth delivery
- Double-check your address and buzzer code, especially in apartment buildings.
- Keep your phone on so the driver can reach you.
- Order what you'll use. Edibles and pre-rolls are best fresh.
- Starting out? Choose lower-THC products. Our THC vs. CBD guide and label guide can help you choose.
